Ice Glen Film Film

Ice Glen: The Film

I conceived and co-produced this two-part feature documentary on Ice Glen, Stockbridge's old-growth forest. My work there began with saving the ancient ash and hemlock from invasive pests — earning Stockbridge the MMA's Innovation Award. The film features on-camera conversations I facilitated between leading experts.

Sometimes you need a second set of eyes. Sometimes the problem is "we've always done it that way." And sometimes you need the data, analysis, and rigor your team simply doesn't have the bandwidth to produce. That's where we come in — with thinking that is out-of-the-box, award-winning, and relentlessly focused on solutions that make a real difference in people's lives.

What I Do

End-to-end consulting — from strategy to execution

Nonprofit CFO & Fundraising

Part-time CFO services including budget development, financial oversight, and board reporting. Paired with fundraising strategy, direct mail, email campaigns, and local media relations that produce measurable results.

Municipal Advocacy & Governance

Bylaw drafting, regulatory testimony, housing trust leadership, conservation negotiations, and rate case intervention. Deep subject matter expertise built over two terms on the Stockbridge Select Board.

Strategic Communications

Everything from op-eds and newsletters to grant applications and public testimony. Clear, persuasive writing that moves decision makers — delivered on deadline and on budget.

AI-Driven Policy & Financial Analysis

Deep-dive research and financial modeling that maps the forces most analyses miss — tax assessment equity, school funding mechanics, ambulance district economics, housing cost drivers. Primary source data, stress-tested arguments, and published white papers that hold up to scrutiny.

Website, Print & Direct Mail

End-to-end execution across digital and print — website design and development, print collateral, email campaigns, and direct mail programs including complex list strategy, segmentation, personalization, and response analysis.

Structural Financial Analysis

Diagnosing the stubborn, structural deficiencies that erode an organization's long-term health — funding formula inequities, cost allocation problems, revenue gaps, and levy constraints. Analysis that names the problem clearly and proposes actionable remedies.

Selected Work

Results speak louder than promises

Stockbridge Mohican Commission Reconciliation

Mohican Reconciliation

Founded the Stockbridge Mohican Commission — the first of its kind in Massachusetts — and led a sustained effort to rebuild ties with the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans. Work included returning 18th-century documents found in the trash at Old Town Hall, designing bilingual river signs, and helping secure a conservation grant for 351 acres at Monument Mountain.

Fair Pay and Pay Equity Labor Policy

Fair Pay & Pay Equity

Stockbridge employees had lost over 10% of their purchasing power while inflation ran 16.7%. As Chair of the Select Board, deployed ARPA funds for immediate relief, then got CPI indexing written into union contracts as a permanent floor — and closed a longstanding gender pay equity gap between union and non-union staff.

Saving Ice Glen Conservation

Ice Glen: Original Work

Worked with specialists to identify and protect old-growth trees in Ice Glen using GPS mapping and local expertise. The Town of Stockbridge received the MMA's Kenneth Pickard Municipal Innovation Award for the project — the only Berkshire municipality honored in 12 years.

Southern Berkshire Ambulance EMS CFO

Southern Berkshire Ambulance

Joined an already-excellent team as part-time CFO to help develop the annual budget, work with partner towns, and revamp the fundraising program — direct mail, email, and local media strategy. The result: donations increased 400% in my first six months.

BWHS Building Project Education CFO

BWHS Building Project

As CFO of Berkshire Waldorf High School, worked alongside the Board Chair and Executive Director on strategy, financing, and fundraising for the purchase and renovation of Stockbridge's Old Town Hall. The building opened in September 2025.

Housatonic Water Works Rate Case Regulatory

HWW Rate Case

Served as intervenor for the Town of Stockbridge in the Housatonic Water Works rate case — analyzing financials, drafting testimony, and working alongside town counsel through the full regulatory process. The Phase I rate increase was substantially reduced from the company's initial request.

Conservation and Development Land Use

Desisto Development

Served as primary negotiator for Stockbridge on the Desisto development, helping condition the permit to include a conservation restriction on over 200 forested acres at Yokun Ridge and $575,000 for affordable housing — protecting land the town had prioritized for nearly 50 years.

Affordable Housing Housing

Affordable Housing Trust

Founded and chair the Stockbridge Affordable Housing Trust. Authored the Residential Inclusionary Bylaw and helped establish the trust by town meeting vote. The bylaw produced immediate results: developer conditions tied to two major permits will fund the trust with $2.3 million in cash payments for workforce housing.

Kicks Are for Kids Giving

Kicks Are for Kids

Not every project needs to be ginormous. On weekends this year, I've been buying sneakers for underprivileged kids at Southern Berkshire Regional School District and Lenox Public Schools — funding half myself and recruiting donors for the rest. About 100 pairs, $5,000 to date.

About Patrick

A Berkshires native who gets things done

I grew up in Stockbridge and have spent my career building things — Internet startups, corporate consulting, nonprofit organizations, municipal policy, and community institutions. I raised over $35 million in venture capital across three companies, currently serve as CFO of two Berkshire nonprofits, and helped save an old-growth forest — earning Stockbridge the Massachusetts Municipal Association's Innovation Award, the first Berkshire municipality so honored in 12 years.

I chose instead to build. That instinct has never left me.

Today I focus my energy on the Berkshires. As a two-term Stockbridge Select Board member and part-time CFO for two local nonprofits, I combine financial rigor with strategic communications and genuine subject matter depth. My philosophy is simple: do extraordinary work at reasonable prices, and let results do the talking.

I've tried to exceed expectations my entire life. I intend to exceed yours. Call or write me anytime.
